PCCW is part of the global firms that work in Blockchain technology for inter-carrier settlement

ITW Global Leaders’ Forum (GLF) has announced the successful completion of a multi-lateral blockchain Proof of Concept (PoC) involving several of its members. The PoC, led by PCCW Global and Colt Technology Services, in collaboration with BT, Orange, Telefonica and Telstra, has demonstrated the viability of a platform that can settle voice transactions between multiple carriers in minutes rather than hours.

The breakthrough is the latest in a series of blockchain PoCs carried out by GLF members and supported by technology partner and blockchain specialist Clear. The trial just completed is the first to involve a multi-lateral series of relationships among the wholesale telecommunications industry, and points to a future of secure and frictionless settlement across the sector.

Windstream Wholesale invests in core network to expand services for international traffic

Windstream Wholesale, a leading provider of advanced network communications, today announced that it will expand its core network into NJFX’s international landing station in Wall Township, N.J., adding capacity to Ashburn, Va.; Newark/New York City, and other major data center markets.

This new core network route will utilize Infinera’s DTN-X to create express routes to these locations resulting in better latency and network scalability that ultimately results in improved performance and savings for Windstream Wholesale customers. Windstream expects to begin turning up these routes in the fourth quarter of 2018.

“This buildout with its connections to Wall Township, N.J., will provide enterprises, international carriers, and content providers fast access from our coast-to-coast network to major subsea cable systems. Our network expansion strategy also includes easy access to other international networks through our links in Texas and South Florida and to Asia Pacific cable systems on the West Coast,” said Joe Scattareggia, executive vice president of Wholesale at Windstream Enterprise and Wholesale.

BSO adds new latin american route

Global network provider BSO has announced a new direct connectivity link between the Mexican stock exchange (BMV) and some of the largest exchanges across North America.

BSO’s new Point of Presence (PoP) in Mexico City provides ultra low-latency connectivity spanning Latin America, Chicago, and New York. As a result, electronic market makers will be able to trade Mexican stocks faster in and out of BMV – which records daily trading volumes over $800 million. BSO’s PoP is located on the same road as the second largest exchange in Latin America, which enables traders to have closer proximity to the BMV matching engines.

With geopolitical uncertainties and trade concerns impacting the global decrease in public listings, the connectivity will be welcomed by liquidity hungry firms looking for economically booming destinations to trade. An anticipated 30% increase in the number of publicly listings in Mexico over the next three years, (Source: Mexican Government), will provide ample profit-making opportunities. The enhanced North American network reinforces BSO’s aim to provide the fastest possible global connectivity to meet the increasing speed demands of firms trading the world’s financial markets.
