Windstream Wholesale Announces Largest Capacity Wavelengths Deal

In recent days Windstream Wholesale signed an agreement with a major hyperscale customer for the largest amount of network capacity in the company’s history. The capacity will allow its customer to interconnect data centers in key cities in the United States. This deal, combined with additional wave capacity contracted in October, represents 5.7 terabits of capacity – the most sold in any single month at Windstream Wholesale.

Windstream Wholesale’s coast-to-coast long-haul and regional express fiber-optic network provides high-speed optical Wavelengths to support today’s massive data demands stemming from cloud computing, multimedia and bandwidth intensive applications. Their optical Wavelengths service features unique, diverse routes with high-speed connections from attractive Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets back to the most popular carrier hotels, data centers, cable landing stations and 1,200+ 1G to 100G capable POPs in Tier 1 markets in the country.

GTT completes Acquisition of KPN International

On December 2, GTT announced the complete acquisition of KPN International, a division of KPN NV based in the Netherlands, which operates a global IP network that serves business and operator customers.

This strategic combination:

  • Adds more than 400 strategic enterprise and carrier clients. GTT will also be the preferred international network supplier for several hundred additional clients retained by KPN.
  • Complements GTT’s comprehensive portfolio of cloud networking services with wide area networking, internet and transport services, and adds depth to GTT’s global Tier 1 IP network in Europe across 21 countries.
  • Contributes a sales, operations, service delivery and client service organization, with a proven track record of delivering outstanding client experience.

Telxius doubles its size in Brazil and consolidates itself as one of the main neutral infrastructure operators in the country

Telxius announced that it will acquire 1,909 towers of Telefónica Brasil, once the acquisition is completed, Telxius’ portfolio will exceed 20,000 towers in the six countries where it operates, growing 20% ​​since the end of 2018.

Throughout 2019, Telxius acquired approximately 3,000 towers in Brazil, Spain, Peru and Chile.

The acquired portfolio has a fundamentally urban profile, 82% of the total, with 52% of the acquired towers are located in Brazil’s main cities, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. This attractive location, coupled with its current tenancy ratio of 1.10x, results into high growth potential for these new sites.

This acquisition will allow Telxius to significantly strengthen its presence in Brazil’s urban areas, where mobile operators will presumably concentrate their efforts for the improvement of mobile broadband coverage and the future deployment of 5G.

Zayo Announces New Long Haul Fiber Route

Earlier this month Zayo announced plans for a new long haul fiber network between Columbus, Ohio and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Construction on the success-based route will start this quarter and is anticipated to be completed in 2020.

The build will span more than 200 route miles from Columbus to Wheeling, West Virginia, Washington, Pennsylvania and Pittsburgh. Customers can benefit from reduced latency on the new route and connect to Cincinnati, Indianapolis and Chicago via Zayo’s existing fiber network.

Zayo continues to grow its footprint in the eastern U.S. Last year, Zayo announced a new route from Columbus to Ashburn that is expected to provide the lowest latency between the two cities. In June, Zayo also announced the addition of nearly 300 new route miles of fiber in the Youngstown, Ohio area.
